What it does

Retinal (retinaldehyde) is a vitamin A derivative that sits one conversion step closer to retinoic acid than retinol. This means it delivers similar results to retinol but at lower concentrations and with a faster onset. It also has direct antimicrobial activity against acne-causing bacteria, making it effective for both anti-aging and acne. It is more potent than retinol but gentler than prescription tretinoin.

Benefits
  • Stimulates collagen and cell turnover more efficiently than retinol
  • Directly targets acne bacteria alongside its retinoid effects
  • Reduces fine lines, wrinkles, and pigmentation faster than retinol
  • Less irritating than prescription tretinoin
  • Improves skin texture and pore appearance
