What it does

Ceramides are lipid molecules that make up approximately 50% of the skin's stratum corneum (outermost barrier layer). They act like the "mortar" between skin cells, preventing transepidermal water loss and blocking irritants, allergens, and pathogens from penetrating the skin. Topical ceramides directly replenish the barrier and are foundational for any compromised or sensitive skin routine.

Benefits
  • Directly replenishes the skin barrier to prevent moisture loss
  • Reduces sensitivity, redness, and reactivity
  • Protects against environmental irritants and allergens
  • Improves skin hydration and plumpness
  • Helps restore barrier function damaged by over-exfoliation or harsh products

How to use

Use morning and evening as a moisturiser or serum. Most effective in a ratio of ceramides:cholesterol:fatty acids (3:1:1), mimicking the natural skin barrier composition.

Typical concentration: 0.5–2% (look for multiple ceramide types in one formulation)
