What it does

Benzoyl peroxide is an oxidising agent that works by releasing oxygen into the pore, creating an inhospitable environment for Cutibacterium acnes (the bacteria primarily responsible for acne). Unlike antibiotics, bacteria cannot develop resistance to benzoyl peroxide. It also has mild keratolytic (exfoliating) properties.

Benefits
  • Kills acne-causing bacteria with no risk of antibiotic resistance
  • Rapidly reduces the size and redness of active pimples
  • Prevents new breakouts by controlling bacterial growth
  • Available OTC in various strengths
