What it does

Mandelic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid with the largest molecular weight of commonly used AHAs, derived from bitter almonds. Its large size means it penetrates the skin slowly and evenly, making it the best-tolerated AHA. It has additional antimicrobial properties useful for acne, and its gentle nature makes it suitable for darker skin tones with lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Benefits
  • Gently exfoliates with the least irritation of all AHAs
  • Antimicrobial activity makes it dual-purpose for acne and exfoliation
  • Suitable for darker skin tones with lower PIH risk than glycolic acid
  • Improves texture, tone, and mild hyperpigmentation
  • Good option for mature or sensitive skin that cannot tolerate glycolic acid
