What it does

Alpha-bisabolol is the active molecule derived from German chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) and is also found synthetically. It has potent anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties, reduces skin sensitivity triggered by actives, and uniquely enhances the skin penetration of other ingredients. It inhibits both 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase pathways — the same mechanisms targeted by anti-inflammatory pharmaceuticals — making it one of the most pharmacologically active soothing agents in skincare.

Benefits
  • Reduces inflammation via the same pathways as anti-inflammatory drugs
  • Enhances the skin penetration of co-applied actives
  • Promotes wound healing and skin recovery
  • Suitable for post-procedure skin and reactive conditions
  • Calms irritation from retinoids, exfoliants, and actives
