What it does

Sodium PCA (pyrrolidone carboxylate) is a naturally occurring component of the skin's Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF) — the collection of water-soluble compounds in the stratum corneum that keep skin hydrated. As a humectant, it draws moisture from the environment into the skin and helps maintain optimal skin hydration levels. It naturally declines with age, UV exposure, and harsh cleansing, making topical replacement beneficial.

Benefits
  • Replenishes a key component of the skin's own moisturising system
  • Highly effective humectant — attracts and binds moisture
  • Reduces skin roughness and improves texture
  • Well-tolerated by all skin types including sensitive
  • Synergistic with other humectants for layered hydration
