What it does

Sodium lactate is the sodium salt of lactic acid and a key component of the skin's Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF). It is an effective humectant that draws and binds water to the skin, helping maintain the skin's natural moisture levels. It is more effective than glycerin at drawing water under low-humidity conditions.

Benefits
  • Effective humectant — part of the skin's own NMF
  • Maintains skin hydration in dry environments
  • Mild exfoliating properties at higher concentrations
  • Helps normalise the skin's natural pH
