What it does

Phytosphingosine is a natural lipid and a direct precursor to ceramides in the skin. It strengthens the skin barrier, has documented antimicrobial activity (particularly against P. acnes), and reduces inflammation. Found in CeraVe and several other barrier-focused formulations, it works synergistically with ceramides and cholesterol.
