What it does

PCA (pyrrolidone carboxylic acid) is a naturally occurring humectant that is one of the primary components of the skin's Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF). It is exceptionally effective at binding and retaining water in the stratum corneum. It is often used in its sodium salt form (Sodium PCA) and is found in hydrating serums and moisturisers.
