Licorice Root Extract
Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root Extract
Also known as: Glabridin · Glycyrrhiza Extract · Licorice Extract
BrighteningSoothing
“A plant extract that fades dark spots and soothes irritation without purging.”
What it does
Licorice root extract contains two key actives: glabridin and liquiritin. Glabridin inhibits UVB-induced pigmentation and is comparable in potency to kojic acid for brightening. Liquiritin disperses melanin clusters to fade existing dark spots. Additionally, licorice root has anti-inflammatory properties that calm redness, making it uniquely effective for hyperpigmentation caused by post-inflammatory responses (PIH).
Benefits
- Fades hyperpigmentation and dark spots effectively
- Anti-inflammatory — reduces redness and post-acne marks
- Inhibits UV-induced melanin production
- Suitable for sensitive skin that cannot tolerate stronger brightening agents
- Works well on post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH)
