What it does

Despite its name, cetyl alcohol is a fatty alcohol derived from palm or coconut oil — not the drying type of alcohol. It acts as an emollient, thickener, and emulsion stabiliser. It conditions skin without the irritation associated with denatured alcohols and is well-tolerated by most skin types.

Benefits
  • Softens and smooths skin as an emollient
  • Stabilises product formulations (creams and lotions)
  • Non-irritating and gentle on sensitive skin
  • Adds a rich, creamy texture to moisturisers
