What it does

Titanium dioxide is a physical (mineral) UV filter that works by reflecting and scattering both UVA and UVB radiation at the skin surface. Unlike chemical filters, it does not absorb UV rays and is generally well-tolerated by sensitive skin. It is photostable and does not degrade in sunlight. Often combined with zinc oxide for broader spectrum coverage.

Benefits
  • Broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection
  • Photostable — does not lose efficacy in sunlight
  • Well-tolerated by sensitive and reactive skin
  • Non-irritating and non-comedogenic in most formulations
