What it does
Stearyl alcohol is a long-chain fatty alcohol derived from stearic acid. Like cetyl and cetearyl alcohols, it is an emollient, emulsifier, and thickener. It conditions the skin surface and contributes to the rich, creamy texture of lotions and creams. It is not irritating and is well-tolerated by all skin types.
