What it does
Cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine is an amphoteric surfactant derived from coconut oil, closely related to cocamidopropyl betaine. It produces a stable foam at a fraction of the harshness of sulfates, and is often paired with gentler co-surfactants to keep a cleanser effective without leaving skin tight. Amphoteric surfactants are among the mildest that still lather meaningfully.
