What it does

Amino acids are the monomers of proteins and are found naturally in the skin's NMF. Topically, they act as humectants to draw water into the skin, support barrier function, and provide the raw materials needed for collagen and keratin synthesis. Products often list individual amino acids (alanine, glycine, arginine, etc.).

Benefits
  • Humectant — draws moisture to the skin surface
  • Supports collagen and elastin synthesis
  • Strengthens skin barrier integrity
