What it does

Methylpropanediol is a diol solvent and humectant that significantly enhances the skin penetration of co-formulated actives, particularly salicylic acid. This is why it is used as the primary solvent in Paula's Choice BHA exfoliants — it makes the salicylic acid far more effective. It also hydrates the skin and has a clean, non-sticky texture.

Benefits
  • Significantly boosts penetration of co-formulated actives
  • Lightweight hydration
  • Clean, non-sticky texture
  • Particularly effective as a carrier for BHA
