What it does

BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene) is a synthetic phenolic antioxidant used to prevent oxidation in cosmetic formulations — particularly in products containing oils and fats. It is widely used in food and cosmetics. While some older studies raised concerns, regulatory bodies (EU, FDA) have confirmed safety at cosmetic use concentrations.
