What it does

Sorbic acid is the acid form of potassium sorbate. Like its salt, it is most effective in low-pH (acidic) formulations and works primarily against yeasts and moulds. It is considered a natural preservative, originally derived from mountain ash berries, and is approved in both food and cosmetics.
