What order should you apply skincare?
Thinnest to thickest, actives before moisturiser, sunscreen always last. Tap any step to see what it's for.
Cleanser, moisturiser, and sunscreen are the only three most people need daily — everything else is an optional addition, in the order it would slot in if used.
Lightweight, water-based formulas go on before heavier, oil-based ones. A thick cream applied first blocks anything layered after it from absorbing properly.
Serums and treatments work at the skin's surface — they're most effective applied directly after cleansing, not layered over makeup or the previous application.
It needs to sit on top as an even, continuous film to work. Anything applied over it — or applying it before your moisturiser has absorbed — can thin it out.
