Sodium Chloride
Sodium Chloride
Also known as: Salt · Sea Salt
Thickener
“Ordinary salt, used to thicken cleansers.”
What it does
Sodium chloride is table salt. In surfactant-based cleansers a small amount thickens the formula, which is why it so often appears near the end of a cleanser's ingredient list. It has no meaningful effect on skin at these levels, and at the concentrations used it is not drying.
Benefits
- Thickens surfactant formulas without additional polymers
