What it does
Limonene is a cyclic terpene found in citrus peel oils, giving products a fresh citrus scent. Like linalool, it is one of the 26 fragrance allergens that must be disclosed on EU cosmetic labels. Oxidised limonene (from air exposure) is particularly allergenic and is a common cause of contact dermatitis.

How to use
Avoid in leave-on products if you have sensitive or reactive skin. Rinse-off use is lower risk.
