What it does

Isopropyl myristate is a synthetic ester of isopropyl alcohol and myristic acid, used as an emollient and solvent. It absorbs quickly, leaves no greasy residue, and enhances the spreadability of formulas. However, it has a high comedogenic rating and is a well-documented trigger for acne cosmetica — breakouts caused by cosmetic ingredients.

  • Lightweight, fast-absorbing texture
  • Improves spreadability and skin feel of products
  • Effective carrier for other actives
