What it does
Hydroxyacetophenone is used alongside other preservatives to extend their effectiveness, letting formulators use less of the harsher ones. It also has mild antioxidant activity, which helps protect a formula from oxidising. It is well tolerated and appears in many products aimed at sensitive skin.
